چکیده

Cytomegalovirus is a frequent contributor to the infectious process in critically ill patients and may contribute clinical outcome of disease. This study aimed determine presence frequency HCMV reactivation contributing factors with severe bacterial comorbidity. Plasma sputum samples were collected from 82 reactivation. was determined by detection DNA along IgG HCMV. detected 36.6% cases. The sepsis associated higher probability (p<0.01), as well viral loads both blood these groups. An association between biological fluids subsequent development pathology (OR=1.5) detected.

Cytomegalovirus reactivation and associated outcome of critically ill patients with severe sepsis

INTRODUCTION Sepsis has been identified as a risk factor for human cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation in critically ill patients. However, the contribution of CMV reactivation on morbidity and mortality is still controversial. Therefore, we analyzed the incidence and impact of CMV reactivation on outcome in patients with severe sepsis. METHODS In a prospective longitudinal double-blinded obse...

Is cytomegalovirus reactivation increasing the mortality of patients with severe sepsis?

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a ubiquitous virus present in approximately two-thirds of the healthy population. This virus rarely causes an active disease in healthy individuals, but it is among the most common opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients such as solid organ transplant recipients, patients receiving chemotherapy for cancer or patients with human immunodeficiency virus. Cri...

Severe cytomegalovirus infection in immunocompetent patients.

Severe cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is rare in previously healthy immunocompetent individuals; to our knowledge, only thirty-four such cases have been reported in the worldwide literature. Multiorgan involvement was associated with a high mortality rate among these patients. Disease that clinically involves only the liver or lungs could be fatal; in contrast, none of the patients with isolat...

Cytomegalovirus Infection and Atherosclerosis: A Systematic Review

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is one of the most common infections that affects humans’ cardiovascular system. Although the literature includes controversial evidence for any correlation between CMV infection and arterial atherosclerosis, the majority of studies, especially those with larger patient population and stronger data stand for such a relationship. However, the number of prospective...
